Test and Tag

About this service

A frayed cord or a failed earth connection is one of the most common causes of workplace electrical incidents, and one of the easiest to catch. InfyWorx provides licensed test and tag technicians to offices, hotels, warehouses and commercial kitchens across Australia. Scheduled testing that keeps your equipment safe and your compliance records audit ready.

What does a test and tag service cover?

The core scope is visual inspection, electrical testing and tagging of portable appliances and equipment, backed by a full asset register. Beyond that, we test RCDs and safety switches, flag and remove faulty equipment from service, and test new equipment before it goes into use. You get a compliance record for every item, every visit.

How often should equipment be tested?

Testing frequency under AS/NZS 3760 depends on the environment. Commercial kitchens and hospitality sites often need testing every 6 to 12 months given wet areas and heavy equipment use. Construction and industrial sites usually need testing every 3 months. General office equipment in a dry, low-risk environment can often run on a longer cycle. We confirm the right interval for your site at the walkthrough.

What's included

  • Visual inspection: Plugs, leads, cords and casings checked for damage, wear and signs of overheating before any electrical test.
  • Electrical testing: Earth continuity, insulation resistance and polarity tested with a calibrated tester on every item.
  • RCD and safety switch testing: Portable and fixed RCDs tested to confirm they trip within the compliant time.
  • Tagging: A pass or fail tag applied to every item, showing test date, technician ID and the next retest due date.
  • Asset register: A full, kept-current register of every tested item across your site, ready to hand over at any time.
  • Faulty equipment reporting: Items that fail are tagged out of service immediately and reported so they’re not used before repair or replacement.
  • Compliance certification: Test and tag certificates supplied for your records, insurance and WHS audits.
  • Cord and plug repairs: Minor repairs carried out where safe and compliant to do so, with replacement recommended where it isn’t.
  • New equipment testing: New appliances and equipment tested before first use, so nothing goes into service untested.
  • Extension leads and power boards: Leads and boards included in every testing cycle, not just fixed appliances.
  • Scheduling and reminders: Automatic scheduling for the next round of testing, so nothing quietly slips past its due date.
  • Reporting and documentation: A completed report after every visit, itemising what was tested, what passed and what needs attention.

Effectiveness

Reduces electrical fire and shock risk

Most electrical incidents trace back to damaged cords or failed insulation. Regular testing catches it before it causes harm.

Keeps you compliant with WHS obligations

A current test and tag program is one of the first things checked in a workplace safety audit or after an incident.

Protects the validity of insurance claims

Insurers can and do ask for compliance records after an electrical incident. Up-to-date tags and certificates back your claim.

Vetted technicians you can trust onsite

Your technicians work unsupervised across your building and equipment. Every InfyWorx technician is licensed and police-checked.

One system, not a spreadsheet of due dates

Every asset is logged and scheduled, so retest dates don’t rely on someone remembering to check a spreadsheet.

One contact instead of chasing a call centre

You get an account manager who knows your site and your asset register. Issues get sorted in a phone call, not a ticket queue.

How it works

  1. Site walkthrough and asset count

We visit your site, count the equipment in scope and confirm the right testing interval for your environment.

  2. Written quote and testing schedule

You get a clear scope, a testing frequency and a fixed price. No vague inclusions and no surprise charges for items you assumed were covered.

  3. Technician allocation

We assign a licensed technician and induct them on your site access, equipment locations and any restricted areas.

  4. Testing and tagging

Every item is inspected, tested and tagged with its status and next due date, on a schedule that suits your operating hours.

  5. Reporting and certification

You get an itemised report and compliance certificate after every visit, plus immediate notice of anything that fails.

  6. Review and re-test scheduling

The next round is scheduled automatically, and the program is reviewed as your equipment or site changes.
