Houseman

About this service

A houseman keeps your housekeeping floor supplied so your room attendants can stay in the rooms. InfyWorx provides trained, background-checked housemen to hotels, resorts and serviced apartments across Australia. Book one shift, a busy season or ongoing cover.

What does a houseman do in a hotel?

A houseman handles linen runs, rubbish removal, pantry restocking and departure room stripping. They also take on the heavy jobs, like rollaway beds, cots, mattresses and furniture moves. Most of the work happens where guests never look, which is exactly the point.

When to book a houseman

Book one when linen bags are piling up in corridors, floor pantries run dry by mid-morning, or your attendants spend more time fetching stock than cleaning. Peak occupancy, conference weeks and school holidays are the usual triggers. One houseman per floor block is often enough to pull the department back on schedule.

What's included

  • Linen collection and delivery: Clearing soiled linen from floor bins and chutes, running it to the laundry, and returning clean stock to floor pantries.
  • Pantry and trolley restocking: Keeping linen cupboards, amenity stock, chemicals and consumables topped up so attendants start each shift ready.
  • Departure room stripping: Stripping beds and clearing rubbish from checkout rooms so room attendants can go straight into cleaning.
  • Rubbish and recycling removal: Emptying floor bins, managing recycling streams, and running waste to the correct back-of-house point.
  • Heavy lifting and equipment moves: Rollaway beds, cots, mattresses, furniture shifts, luggage racks and anything a single attendant should not lift alone.
  • Corridor and public area upkeep: Vacuuming guest corridors, wiping skirting and rails, tidying service areas, lifts and stairwells.
  • Deep cleaning support: Assisting with carpet spotting, mattress rotation, window ledges, balcony sweeps and scheduled deep-clean programs.
  • Back-of-house housekeeping: Keeping service lifts, linen rooms, storerooms and staff corridors clean, ordered and compliant.
  • Guest request delivery: Delivering extra pillows, irons, towels and requested items promptly and politely.
  • Maintenance reporting: Logging faults spotted on the floor with engineering, before a guest finds them first.

Effectiveness

More rooms cleaned per attendant

When someone else handles linen and rubbish, room attendants stay in rooms. Most properties see credits per attendant improve within the first fortnight. Same team, more output.

Fewer injuries and fewer claims

Linen bags, mattresses and rollaways cause a large share of housekeeping injuries. Our housemen are trained in safe manual handling and team lifting. That protects your people and your workers compensation record.

Cleaner corridors, better guest scores

Guests notice linen bags in hallways. They mention it in reviews. A houseman clears that before it becomes a comment on Google or Booking.com.

Coverage without permanent headcount

Occupancy moves. Your fixed payroll should not have to. Scale housemen up for conference weeks and school holidays, then scale back when the property quietens down.

Supervisors doing supervisor work

Your housekeeping supervisors should be inspecting rooms and coaching attendants. Not shifting furniture. Freeing them up lifts quality across the whole floor.

Cover for call-outs and leave

Sick calls happen, usually on the worst possible morning. We fill the gap so the department is not starting the day already behind.

How it works

  1. Tell us what your floor needs

We speak with your Executive Housekeeper or Housekeeping Manager about room count, floor layout, linen system, chute access and daily volume. Ten minutes on the phone is usually enough to size the requirement properly.

  2. We match the right people

We select housemen from our vetted pool based on your property type and shift pattern. Every candidate has verified work rights, a police check, checked references and proven hotel experience.

  3. Induction before day one

Staff are briefed on your floor plan, service lift access, linen par levels, chemical handling, key security and guest privacy rules. They also complete your WHS and manual handling induction so nothing is left to guesswork.

  4. They arrive ready to work

Uniform-compliant, on time, and at your morning briefing with everyone else. No hand-holding required and no half-day spent explaining where the linen room is.

  5. We keep watching

Your account manager tracks attendance, punctuality and performance, and checks in with your supervisors regularly. If someone is not the right fit, we replace them. Simple as that.

  6. Scale as you go

Adjust numbers through the platform as occupancy shifts. Add cover for a conference week, drop back after peak season, book emergency shifts when a call-out lands.
